Silhouette boards

Favorite Boards

I got the idea of making boards with things my kids like and painting them and doing melted crayon on them. In the process of making them I found that painting them darker was not as good as painting them brighter. So here I have made two darker and two lighter/ brighter.

First I searched and found things each kid likes and I copy and pasted to Word and printed all in black ink. Than lots of cutting out.

Next I traced them onto contact paper (I bought at the dollar store). Then more cutting. I also had the kids pick out a font for the first letter of their name and did the same with the contact paper.

Than you stick them where you want them and press them on, rubbing the sides so the paint wont get too under them.

And I picked out colors of paint the kids like and painted the whole board. Let dry for a few hours and next have kids pick out crayons they liked.

With the hairdryer you hold the crayons very close the dryer and I spinned the crayon get the splatted affect. Let cool about an hour and peel off the shapes.

And this is how they came out!

I liked how there was some bleeding of the paint and crayon. I am happy how they turned out!
