LDS General Conference Weekend

This past weekend was our church's General Conference. It's a chance for us to hear from our leaders and also what the Lord would want us, his children to know.  If you would like to watch, listen or know more you can go here

At our house its called pajama weekend!  We try not to go anywhere, we have our journals out and I attempt to make Conf rolls....
I say attempt because every conf I try and whip together, light, fluffy, cinnamon filled, with cream cheese frosting- cinnamon rolls. The kind my mom used to make, but for the last 4 years (since we moved back to Washington!) they turn into bricks, gooey, or flat.

Last October I gave up, I actually cried when the last batch was so heavy and the yeast would not rise, I swore I would never do this again!....
Fast forward to last week, I went on Pinterest and scoured for a recipe that I could try in my final attempt to feed my family Conf weekend! (Cue dramatic pause)

I was able to find one that looked basic and promising, by the way there are exactly 4,285 pins for cinnamon rolls in case you were wondering.

This is the one that I used, the recipe is here
I rolled out the dough after following the directions, added melted butter, lots of cinnamon, white sugar, raisins and chocolate chips.

After they are rolled up and in the greased pan, I sprinkle more cinnamon and let rise for 15 minutes before baking at 350 degrees for 18 minutes.

Miss E wanted to make the frosting, it's a basic icing recipe.
Powdered sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, a splash of milk, cream cheese.

I don't glaze the rolls right away, I wait a few minutes, let them cool down.

Ta da!

I didn't take any photos of us eating them because I was so proud that they actually worked and rose, were tasty and now back on the schedule for next Conference weekend!!!

I found the coolest activity packet for the kids to do while we watched Conference. The link is Here, this is a great packet of activities and I made 2 for each kid. They loved them!

Saturday afternoon, as the afternoon session ended this guy wanted to cuddle and ended up falling asleep .

Apparently I did too. Miss J took these photos and it was a surprise to find them when I uploaded  to my computer.

Our Spring mantle decor.

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Easter weekend! I know we did and now it's back to life!
