Our First Dog Show!

This past Saturday the kids have their first 4-H dog show. Since we have 3 dogs each child was assigned a dog based on personality (I matched them up) and they have been working with their dogs for the last few weeks.

Miss E, was matched up with lady. They both have a quieter personality, Miss E has a gentle hand, and Lady responds well to that.

Lil man was assigned Scarlett or 6 month old puppy.  They work really well together,  he is learning how to handle a dog on a leash, and she is learning very basic training with him. And besides how cute are they?!

Lil man had the first show of the morning,  the puppy ring!  There were 5 other handlers with puppies ages 4 to 10 months. It was a very basic show,  they had to walk,  halt,  practice sitting,  stay, and showmanship.

Next was obedience for miss E and Lady, they are in Intermediate class,  so they had more challenges then little man, he is considered a Cloverbud class,

Then Miss J with Duke,  I put them together because  Duke being the 6 year old man, he is tends to be stubborn, and needs a firm hand. Miss Jis definitely that personality!
They did showmanship for theirfirst show,  as she is in Junior Class.

Miss J how to position Duke on the table for the judges inspection, in Showmanship they want to see confirmation, grooming technique, and handling technique by the kids.

Miss J with some girls also in our club waiting to start their obedience show.  We make up the Schnauzer group for all of Pierce County!

Miss E waiting for Showmanship,  the girls have to wear skirts or dresses,  and they had their outfits picked out for over a week!

Kids and dogs all done for the day!

These two were so ready to go home!

We all learned alot, had a great time and we are now getting ready for our qualify show for the Pierce County Fair in August!
