Our first 4H fair Season

This year has been fun as a new 4-H family! The girls and I were able to submit several exhibits to the Pierce County Fair in Graham. Miss E is an Intermediate and Miss J is a Junior.
Lil Man wasn't quite old enough to officially submit things yet, but he will next year for sure!!

Miss J wanted to make a dessert so she picked a Tarte aux Frieze. Not an easy thing to make, but thankx to YouTube, we (mostly Miss J) were able to make it from scratch!

Adding the final touches before we took it to submit and be judged.

The finished and ready to display dessert!

Miss E wanted to submit a sewing/ handicraft item, of course this would have been much more fun if we had months to pick and plan and actually make the sewing item, but we had 15 days and a lot going on, so she designed and made this skirt with lined pockets!

Miss J also submitted this beautiful photo of my fave dahlia "Cafe au Lait" of which I submitted this exact flower in Open Class Adult.

Our exhibit items ready to go be submitted.. Miss E also made Summer Berry jam, a Schnauzer breed info poster and took a garden judging class. Miss J besides the photo, and dessert, a shell and beaded necklace, and a few sunflowers from her garden. I submitted in Adult Open Class my Famous Chocolate chip cookies, as well as the dahlia above and this silk dress.

This girls helped with our clubs dog barn. We didn't show our dogs this year due to breeding schedules, but we still were able to participate in judging and being with our club.

Miss E and J with one of our Senior girls and her dogs.

Miss E with more of our club girls. It was so hot the days we were there! The kids had to spray dogs with water bottles, and cover with damp towels.

Miss E with Barrett, one of the many dogs in our club.

They had a crazy hair day and all the girls wanted to color their hair with sparkly spray color, Miss J wanted blue, of course!

Miss E was happy to have pink tips, I'm thinking these two will be asking for colored streaks in the few years for sure!

All done and picking up our ribbons and exhibit items.
Miss J won first place for her dessert, photo, plant judging course and sunflowers. She also won Supervisors Award for her verbal Dog Judging class, she was the only Junior to win that award because of her high score! And second place for her necklace.
Miss E won first place for her skirt, Dog Judging course, dog breed poster, and second place for her jam.
I didn't take any photos of my ribbons, but I won first place for my cookies, second place for my dress, (the woman who won first place and Grand Champion had made a vintage inspired dress that was hand sewn and completely hand-embroidered. I'm ok being second place for that! And I won third place for my dahlia, it was so hot and my poor beautiful was too wilted when they judged, the note said I picked it too early before being judged.
We had a great experience and we're already thinking about what we can do next year, Lil Man to is excited to "win all the big ribbons!"
