This year through 4H the girls were able to show the dogs at the state fair! This was a huge, big, exciting thing! We were at the fair a total of 4 days during the 21 days in Sept.
Opening day is a big deal, you get in for free when you bring a canned food donation, the Hubs takes the day off work and we are there all day long, because this is one of the only days that the Hubs will go, we do all the fun stuff he wants to see, try the fair foods, and the kids go on any rides.
Having Opening Day Doughnuts.
That first day was hot and we dressed accordingly.
They had Super heros and Lil Man is OBSESSED with Spiderman and Batman, so meeting Spiderman was so exciting for him, they had a table to decorate their on masks while waiting in line (smart idea for impatient kids!)
At 1130 that day Miss J gave a Public Presentation about her Parakeets in front of a judge and audience. She won second place at state level for her class (Junior) division.
Our 2nd fair day, was with our homeschool co-op and the girls had dog judging. This was the day we could wander and see what ever we wanted. We pack a lunch and lots of snack and this is a long day! We know the other 4 days we will be there is for 4H and dogs stuff so make sure to have fun and see it all now or never!
It wasn't all fun and games, the girls did have to do dog judging which tests the kids and leaders on dog breeds and history, parts, health, 4h knowledge, and handling info.
Fair days 3 and 4 are busy with barn clean up and set up, dog classes, showing, cleaning, and awards.... we had to be there at by 830am everyday and couldn't leave until the barn closed at 8pm every night! They each competed in Obedience and Showmanship for their own levels.
Miss E and Scarlett won 1st place in Showmanship and 3rd for Obedience.
Miss J and Duke won 1st place in Showmanship and 3rd for Obedience as well.
For our first year showing this level I'm super proud!
On the last day the Hubs came to watch the awards and they had to get pics with Batman, Funny side note, Lil man tells EVERYONE that his dad is Batman because he has a deeper voice, so this cracked me up when I saw this pic!
The end of a LONG show and fair season, we took this pic on the last day of the fair at 915pm right after we cleaned up the dog barn and could finally go home. Till next year!
