Garden update

It's been a month and the garden has grown so much! The weather has been mild with a few days at a time that hit the upper 80s and rain every 10 days or so. We have been picking raspberries, zucchini, blueberries, spinach, salad greens, yellow crookneck squash, beets, radishes, peas, beans, sunflowers, calendulas, broccoli, strawberries, basil, and cauliflower. Phew! That's alot and so yummy! I have started more seeds and even planning the fall/cold weather crops.

A morning harvest.

My girls in the garden

Peas, at the end of their season.

The herb bed, Echinacea in the foreground, all the transplants are very happy in partial shade by the chicken yard.

My sweet J picking raspberries.

E and J picking blackberries.

Rainbow Quinoa, our first year growing this and I'm so happy how well its growing.

So you can see how tall the Quinoa is growing. It's over 6 feet tall!

Cauliflower heads,

This is a carrot top from a store bought carrot that we tossed to the chickens but it started to grow, so we put it in the bed with the other carrots and sure enough it's blooming. I will try and save the seeds and see  if we can grow them next year....I'll keep you posted!

My Man checking the bee hives, and the girls standing next to the potatoes, that are still blooming.

Ta da! The garden. (this was taken 2 weeks ago and already everything has grown bigger than in this photo!)

One mornings harvest.

Our second week of picking blackberries, this has been a great year for berries. I'm going to thank the bees for all the pollination!

Lemon Queen sunflower, almost 7 feet tall. planted these in E's garden bed

Spaghetti squash, not quite ready yet. Our first year growing these.

Midnight queen sunflower, these are very dark and smell really good, almost like a daisy. they are about 5 feet tall, planted in J's garden bed.

The sunflowers very happy in full sun

Enjoying the summer bounty.
