The buffet table

I had a sewing client that knew I was looking for a buffet style table, and had a sister and brother in law that were moving so she got us in touch with each other and within a few days this beautiful table was in my garage! It's solid wood and very old, but sturdy and in really nice shape, I had a vision of this being creamy white and antiqued.

The before.

The after! Now to show you how I did it, with photos!

Sanded down the doors

Trimmed out the doors and the top drawer.

Painted one coat with my new fave kind of paint. The color is a pale creamy white. it has a hint of yellow, but not too much. The color was called "Night Blooming Jasmine" by Behr.  Home Depot mixed it for me. This is an eggshell finish latex paint.  I LOVE this paint,  and use it on so many surfaces!  I've been asked if it's chalk paint, because of the semi matte finish.  But the pigment is so thick,  it's awesome!

One thick coat of paint. I love this so much already!

The doors and drawers.

Next step mix the glaze. Most of these I bought at either JoAnn's or Walmart. The ratios I used for this color were 3 parts dark glaze, 1 part white glaze, 2 squirts the Burnt Amber and 1 squirt Yellow.

This is what it looks like mixed up. Poopy soup color

Brush on lightly all over with extra attention to the corners, trim and spindles.

Wipe off excess with a damp paper towel, after a minute to let it set.

Detail of one door.

Adding the knobs. I painted the sides of the drawers, the top red and the bottom turquoise.

And finally in family room! It fits the space perfectly below the TV! So happy with the end result. (yes there is a knob missing, I miscounted and had to run and buy another one.)

Close up of the table.

The after! Yes I did get the other knob put on just now!
