In August we had a surprise litter of puppies out of Scarlett, her first! Then 4 days later we had a big litter of rabbits! We bred MoonBeam, our Giant Chinchilla rabbit with Spicy, our Cinnamon buck, this was her first litter as well, she delivered 14 kits (baby rabbits), two were born dead and one died a few days after birth. We had been told that for first litters they have a higher mortality rate, so we were happy that we still had 11 live!
MoonBeam, she weighs 11 1/2 lbs. She is the same weight as Lady our dog!
The kits at 2 days old, not cute! The kids didn't want to touch them because they thought they looked like baby rats.
But here are the kids taking turns holding the week old puppies. We had two nice big boys!

Once the rabbit kits get there fur, the kids couldn't wait to hold them
Some looked like daddy
...And some looked like Mommy.
This are the two brothers at 2 weeks old. Eyes and ears are now open.
The kits at 3 weeks old, eating foods, barely nursing and they sleep in a dog(rabbit) pile
The puppies at 5 weeks old, before and after their first haircuts.
Both boys left to their forever family at 8 weeks old. just in time for us to have a short break to clean....
And then it was Lady's turn. She had a long delivery, but had 4 healthy females!
One day old, this is the only true black & silver.
One mostly black & silver.
Here they are at 3 weeks old.
The rabbits are now 10 weeks old,
