I'm Living in LA has it perks but also it's disadvantages. I love fall...like ALOT! It's my favorite season and there's just something about it that makes everything better. Living in LA makes enjoying fall significantly more difficult because it's November and in the mid to high 80's and you're surrounded by palm trees.
There's nothing wrong with palm trees but I miss the changing colors and the leaves falling. I miss the crispness in the air.
So to indulge my love of fall, on Sunday Shawn and I went in search of it. We made a simple picnic of sandwiches, chips and water. Loaded up our bikes in the truck and went on the great hunt.
There's a neighborhood not too far from his house that surrounded by the most beautiful houses! In the middle of all these houses is a picturesque little park. It's about 2/3 of a mile wide, so it's a small one but it's so clean (a rarity in LA) and gorgeous. We parked, hoped on our bikes and started riding the loop. Around the third bend we saw it. The most beautiful tree with changing leaves, leaves on the ground and it was in the perfect spot for a cool breeze to pass by.
We rode around the park 3 more times before finally stopping at the tree. We spread out our blanket (the leaves on the ground caused a slight dampness come through the blanket which gave my inner Washingtonian nearly squeal with glee) and ate our picnic lunch. The breeze caused a slight chill in the air and even though it was still 80 degrees, it almost felt like fall in the northwest....or at least more north than were we where. We laid down and watched the sun move through the leaves. We may or may not have taken a little cat nap there.Eventually, it was time to go. Meal prep was waiting to be done and that takes a bit of time. We got back into our bikes, ride around the park a few more times (yes we got stares because we both had stupid grins and we where holding hands while riding(kids don't try this at home)) and headed back to the truck. Leaving behind our perfect little bubble of fall perfection!
